Mexico City tour description.
Be prepared to be WOWED by the beauty, culture, history, food, music and gracious people of Historic Mexico City. The Golden Mexico Tour will give you the opportunity to visit some of the vibrant and ancient boroughs in and surrounding the heart of the city.
We will be staying at the Hotel Principal, a lovely chic boutique hotel located inside an historic building located just 600 meters from the Zocalo, the main plaza in the heart of the city. Breakfast is included in the tour at the quaint restaurant located in the hotel.
Each morning we will meet after breakfast for a brief informational meeting to go over the day’s activities. We will then be transported, by our own private van to each day’s destination. Tour destinations were chosen to highlight the best of what Mexico City has to offer from The Zocalo to the Piramids to an ancient swap meet that has been in the same location for 1000’s of years, pre-dating even the Aztecs! ● Castillo de Chapultepec a visible reminder of Mexico’s bygone aristocracy, the ‘castle’ that stands atop Chapultepec Hill was begun in 1785 but not completed until after independence, when it became the national military academy. When Emperor Maximilian and Empress Carlota arrived in 1864, they refurbished it as their residence. The east end of the castle preserves their palace, with sumptuously furnished salons opening onto an exterior deck that affords sweeping city views.
● Antrophology Museum The museum is unique also in that the ground floor, dedicated to archaeological finds from ancient Mexico - each room dealing with a particular civilization or region of the country - allows you to wander outside into gardens and courtyards thus recreating an “in situ” experience with the artifacts. No ancient Teotihuacano non-ideographic texts are known to exist (or known to have existed). Inscriptions from Maya cities show that Teotihuacan nobility traveled to, and perhaps conquered around the turn of the 20th century. The folk art-filled museum, open as such since 1957.
